January Random

Ruby gets a haircut!  Which basically means the lady spent 2 hours flat ironing her hair with the most industrial size iron I have ever seen!  She had such a rough time, the lady was not very gentle.  And even though she HATES to cry in public, silent tears were running down her cheeks.  It was so sad.

But she persevered, and as soon as she took one look in the mirror...all of the agony was forgotten!  She had straight hair!!  Oh the joy she had for the next 2 plus weeks (we drug it out as long as possible).  It lasted so long that she started to question whether her curly hair would come back when we did get it wet.  But alas, her beautiful curly locks did come back.

Dentist visits...no cavities yay!!

And Sonic did an airplane project for science that was picked by his classmates as one of the best in his grade!

Go Sonic!

January goes berserk

On January 10th our lives were turned upside down when Jonas came home injured from playing church basketball.   He was in so much pain and we didn't know what exactly had happened so the next day we took him in to the instacare and the doctor told him he had torn his Achilles tendon.  Oh no!  So he had to have surgery.  So he had to have a cast and be on crutches for a while.  So he had to be in a big boot for a while after that.  And of course he couldn't drive.  At least it was just temporary.  But it felt like FOREVER!!

Before the surgery.  Happy as can be, but a little nervous.

Bored, waiting at the hospital.

After the surgery.  Totally out of it, and I'm taking lot's of pictures and video.
See what a nice wifey I am?

On the bright side, he got to ride the little cart cars in Walmart!!

Waiting to get the cast put on.

The stitched up heel.

Putting the cast on...Squish was very interested in the process.

Then he developed a really bad rash in his cast and had to get it off early!
I was glad because the cast was driving him crazy.
I got some awesome videos of them taking the cast off but I didn't get any pictures!  So that's the end of the picture tour, but after that he started having really bad pain behind the knee and he went in on Valentine's day for an ultrasound and they said he had a couple of big blood clots in this thigh and admitted him to the hospital right away!  So that was our Valentine's date.  Watching Prison Break on my Ipod touch in the hospital, haha.
It was actually quite scary and he had to start taking blood thinners and I had to give him injections every day!!
After that he slowly got better and better, and eventually got the clearance to start putting some pressure as he walked, started driving a little and now he is {almost} as good as new.   It will still be a long road until he feels 100% but at least he is okay!

Christmas Festivities 2011

Compared to last Christmas (when all of my siblings came to town) this Christmas was sleepy and oh so quiet!  But it was kind of nice that way too.  Here's a quick re-cap of the events:
Major disclaimer--some of these pictures are aweful!! My camara died right before Christmas and I had all sorts of issues.

The kids got to see a local Mr. and Mrs. Claus at the Jetblue offices.

The family on Christmas Eve.  We celebrated at the B home.

My parents doing a funny pose :)

Squish doing doing some typical dancing moves.  That's his rapper face.
We had a great time eating Paches and just being together.   With our paches with ate food that people would have eaten when Jesus was on the earth and ate by candlelight.

The Santa loot

The unwrapping chaos!  Most of the presents we give our kids come from us, the parents.  We don't want Santa to have most of the fun!

Christmas Breakfast all sorts of yummy things.

We are in charge of Christmas Day dinner so the family came over to our house for Shrimp Etoufee.

Here it is!

The week between Christmas and New Years we went to the zoo for their free day.
Cousins came too!

We were doing a planking competition with the family at the time so the boys did this one.
For New Years, we went to see A Dolphin Tale at the movies and then to dinner at The Training Table.

Jasmine and her cousin dressed alike--so cute!!

Green Elephant Party 2011

Wendy was the hostess of the Green Elephant party this year.  She had it at her sister's home in Park City.  It was kind of last minute and several people coudn't come, so it was a small group.  But we still had fun as usual!

Here is the yummy dessert we had!

And guess who gets to be the hostess next year?  Me, that's who!

Trip to Santaland!

It has been a tradition since I started working for Jetblue 6 years to go to New York at Christmastime.  I LOVE New York!!
I was so sad when we weren't able to go last year so this year I made sure that it happened.

It was just a short one day trip in New York.
The kids playing the big piano from "Big" at FAO Schwarz

And the main reason for going...getting to see Santaland at the flagship Macy's store!

Christmas Performances

Look at my sweet little ballerina!  She did so awesome on her recital this year.  She practiced so hard and it paid off!

Sonic did great at this school perfomance too.  He is playing the trumpet this year.
